Headache, dry mouth, muscle cramps, dark yellow urine…. do you have these symptoms sometimes? or do you feel dizziness, very dry skin, sleepiness or lack of energy?
if the answer is yes……than you are properly dehydrated. While the first is a mild dehydration, the second is a significant one and can lead to serious consequences, if you don’t give the body water.
Up to 60% of the human adult body is water.
According to Mitchell and others (1945),
- the brain and heart are composed of 73% water,
- and the lungs are about 83% water.
- The skin contains 64% water,
- muscles and kidneys are 79%,
- and even the bones are 31% watery
Importance of water for our body
Water has special qualities that make it very important and necessary for life. The cells in our bodies are full of water. Water can easily dissolve substances, which helps our cells use nutrients, minerals, and chemicals in biological processes. The way water “stick” helps our body to transport these materials throughout our body.
The proteins and carbohydrates our bodies use as food are metabolized and transported by water in the bloodstream.
water in our body helps for
- regulation of body temperature,
- lubricating your joints,
- and assist in digestion.
- Delivering oxygen all over the body
- Flushing body waste through urin
As mentioned before low Hydration levels can have multiple affects on parts of the body, so on the brain. A 2014 article in the ACMS’s Health and Fitness Journal said that even mild dehydration—lets say 1–2% loss of body water— can have an affect on cognitive function, including attentiveness, critical thinking skills, and memory.
If you wonder why you always forgetting things it might lay on your hydration level. It is essential that humans consume a certain amount of water per day. This varies by age and gender and where someone lives. Some of the water a person needs doesn’t have to come from drinking liquids as some of it is contained in the food we eat. But Usually, a man needs 3 liters per day and a woman needs 2.2 liters.
So keep your Water alive & energized and stay hydrated.
